The Silverstone saga has taken a fresh twist, with the news that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is to sue BRDC president, triple world champion, Sir Jackie Stewart.
It's understood that Ecclestone is suing Stewart for slander.
In a statement issued by Mr Ecclestone's lawyers, it is claimed that the action relates to comments made to the BBC by Stewart suggesting that the Englishman had reneged on a promise made to the Minister of Sport.
"Mr Ecclestone, who has made it clear that he has tried hard to keep the British Grand Prix, and has explained his frustration at why this seems to be impossible in light of failed negotiations with the BRDC, is not suing the BBC, rather just its interviewee," said Simon Smith, who is acting for Ecclestone.
