ABC's live telecast of Sunday's United States Grand Prix attracted the largest U.S. television audience on record for the event as an average of 1.5 million viewers tuned in for the race-only portion of the telecast.

The audience was up 14 percent on last year's viewership, based on Nielsen Big Data + Panel data.

The audience marked the 12th event viewership record set this season in 19 races, with all but two, Miami and Singapore, experiencing year-on-year audience growth.

Viewership peaked at 1.6 million between 4:15-4:30 p.m. as Max Verstappen drove to victory, further tightening the battle for the drivers' title with only five races remaining.

The race telecast, which ran from 3-4:45 p.m. ET, also attracted 539,000 average viewers in the 18-49 demographic, an increase of 10% over last year's race.

Across ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, F1 races are averaging 1.3 million viewers, ahead of the all-time U.S. television record average of 1.21 million that was set in 2022.

Including this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix, ESPN has five more races before Apple becomes the sport's exclusive U.S. broadcast having signed a 5-year deal earlier this month.
