Red Bull has confirmed that its chief designer, Craig Skinner, has left the team with immediate effect.

"After 20 years with the team, Craig Skinner, our Chief Designer, will be leaving the Red Bull Technology team," announced the Austrian team in a statement. "Craig has been an integral part of our team and its success, and we would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment. The whole Red Bull team wishes him all the best for the future."

The latest in a long line of departures over the last two-three years, the reason for Skinner's departure is not known but it is understood to be his own decision.

As a CFD Engineer with Fluent Inc in the early 2000s, Skinner worked with a number of teams including Red Bull, Williams and Jordan, before joining the Milton Keynes-based outfit in 2006.

Promoted to the role of CFD Team Leader in 2009, he was subsequently appointed Deputy Head of Aerodynamics in 2014, and Chief Aerodynamicist in 2018.

In early 2022, he was appointed Chief Designer, and has overseen the design of the team's numerous title winners since then, not least the RB19, the most dominant car in the history of the sport.

"Oops. didn't mean to hit enter...

What I was meaning to say that there are way too many changes happening in front of and behind the scenes. I would wager it has to do with the regime change that happened, but it's a guess.

I suppose we'll know more in DTS next series....NOT!"
